|In a city known for music, Christ Church puts a lot of effort into making our music programmes diverse. You can learn about our choir (which supports the musical worship of our Sunday morning service at 10am), our jazz ensemble (which supports the musical worship at our Six O'clock Service) , and our African Drummers here. We also frequently host concerts in the church. More information about those can be found on our calendar.|
|The choir of Christ Church Vienna is always looking for new choristers in all voice ranges. We are an enthusiastic group dedicated to cultivating the fine tradition of choral music for Anglican worship. In addition to singing for our regular Sunday morning services and Evensong, we perform several special choral events throughout the year, including: the Advent Carol Service, the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, the Easter Vigil with Exsultet, and many more. Our repertoire ranges from Tallis and Byrd through to such modern composers as John Rutter and Malcolm Archer. Our choir director is Joan Avery and our organist is Andrew Couse.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact the Church Office.
|Join us on Sunday evenings for our Six O’clock Service as we explore the intersection of jazz and worship. The evening begins 15-20 minutes before the service with a bit of classic jazz from our in-house ensemble. At six o’clock, we begin our more contemporary take on a traditional Anglican worship service, including jazz-infused hymns, readings and prayers, a sermon, and the Lord’s Supper. The service concludes with a piece from the jazz ensemble and a light meal and rich conversation in the Church Centre. If you want to listen to some of the music, join us for our next concert on June 14, 2019. Or, you can listen to recordings from our first concert.
Please Note: We have a traditional Evensong service on the first Sunday each month, and jazz the other Sundays, from September to June, with a brief break at Christmas.
|With members of the church coming from several African nations, Christ Church often welcomes a group we affectionately know simply as the African Drummers. Performing traditional worship songs in Edo, Ibo, and Yoruba, the drummers perform at special events such as Lange Nacht der Kirchen and the Africa and Friends Fest.
